There is a growing desire among people to work from their homes. There are many different reasons for this collective desire, but perhaps one of the largest is for convenience. It is easier to work from home, and if you're working at home you save commute time, and expenses. Of course, the big problem with finding work at home is that it must be successful. If the pay is not sufficient, there is really no point to pursue the matter.

One of the most successful ways to make a living while working from home is to look into writing jobs. The requirements for basic internet writing jobs are rather rudimentary—can you write? Will you write? Those are the two basic questions to ask. If you answered in the affirmative, then you may have struck gold.

To write successfully from home you do not have to be a professional writer. You do not need a degree in English, and you definitely don’t have to be author-grade material. If you have basic writing skills in your arsenal, you should be set to start out your career in home writing.

One of the most readily pounced on opportunities for aspiring home writers is transcription writing. There are so many different categories and topics for transcription writers to choose from, it makes is relatively easy to succeed. Because there are a lot of different writing preferences and styles, having a wide pond to fish in helps build the chances of finding something that you like.

People are especially searching for well-written medical transcripts at this time, and it’s so easy! (If you have any medical experience your chances for success will be notably better.)

Medical transcriptions will be our example. First you will need to choose a site. That is true if you are planning to write medical transcriptions, or any other variety. There are so many potential employers on the web, and you can take your pick. Sift through them, using your wonderful computer skills—the only other skills needed to complete this job. Find the ideal job opening, and present yourself over the internet. You will be given medical topics and information, if you have decided to write medical transcriptions. From there you do a little research, type up your findings in an elegant style, and then submit it back to the website. They accept it, and send you money for your work, and you get another topic. It is essentially that easy.

The most difficult aspect to this career choice is definitely finding the right employer for you. There are scams out there, regrettably, and you will need to be able to research and find the real opportunities amid the fake ones.

There is not much of a science that goes into transcription writing, and nearly anyone can make this a career.

Another wonderful work at home opportunity resides in proofreading jobs. There are so many writers out there looking for pre-editing jobs and services, and they are on the lookout for good proofreaders to review their work before they send it onto their professional editor. Editors that work in publication are also looking to employ competent proofreaders, because it eases their workload, and speeds along the publication process.

Working as a proofreader is easy, and as long as you have a few skills you can easily make a career out of it. An understanding of grammar and an appreciation for the English language are of course highly important. You will, after all, be reviewing the work of real authors, and you will be looking for the things they overlooked while writing. If you enjoy reading and have good taste, you should be well off. A critical eye is also paramount. Again, you will be looking over literary works by real writers! You will catch the errors they missed, or tell them where information is lacking.

Sometimes proofreading entails not so much of a paper or novel, as an information pamphlet, or even a submitted transcript. As long as you can read objectively, you really can’t go wrong with your career as a proofreader.

It is very hard to determine how much a person will make as a transcription writer, or a proofreader. Everything depends on how quickly but efficiently you can work. You are not paid by the hour. That is the case with most every work at home job. You are paid by what you accomplish, so speed is the factor. If you are both fast and good at what you do, you could end up making an estimated $20.00 or more an hour. It really depends on your personal speed, though.
