High paying keywords are important when you write an article. The type of keyword you select may affect the type of online ads to be listed alongside your article. Take for instance a keyword may be worth just 15c whereas another may be worth $15. While just a click on the ads alongside an article fetches $ 15, an ad of another article has to get 100 clicks to get the same amount. So you have to research on the worth of the keywords of your article.
Now how to choose the correct keywords? First select the topic of your article and then search for the proper keyword to fetch the maximum number of clicks. For example if you are planning an article on obesity the keyword can be fat. Now generate a list of synonyms and analyze the list.
Google has a free tool that is part of Adwords (the link is in the resources). Go to the keyword tool and enter the topic of your article. A list of potential keywords with their search volume is generated. This exercise will give you the cost per click (CPC) and then you can know how much an advertiser would give you per click.
Strike a balance between high paying keywords and high search volume because your aim is to choose such topics that a lot of people look for so that they attract good traffic.
Finally your article must be of quality. Your keywords may be strong and the quality of the article is bad, you will not get the expected response. Even if the quality of the article is good and the keywords are weak, it will take longer time to make the money you want. So you have to combine quality with keywords.
