Technical Writer Jobs description
A technical writer position may be available with a media agency, editing or writing department of a firm, or an IT company. A technical writer is responsible for performing advanced technical writing work. Specific duties of a technical writer include composing, organizing, and editing compiled information; staying updated on the specific technical area; overseeing the composition and editing technical documents; working under limited supervision; referring technical documents or books; performing research or studying a subject from the limited available data; staying updated on new technological advancements in the specific area and performing other tasks assigned by the writing manager. A technical writer typically reports to a writing manager.A technical writer should have an associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree in a technical area. Excellent academic credentials and familiarity with terminology used in the industry are essential.
