Content Editor, LIVESTRONG.COM (Fitness and Health)
Location: Santa Monica, CA
This role is with our LIVESTRONG.COM team. LIVESTRONG.COM is the definitive source for fit and healthy living. We empower our readers with credible and shareable health, workout and fit eating information coupled with helpful interactive tracker apps and an online support community. 
Reporting to the Managing Editor, the Content Editor will write and edit fitness, health and lifestyle content for LIVESTRONG.COM on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience writing, editing and assigning for the Web. This person should be organized, resourceful, and able to communicate effectively on multiple platforms. Overall digital know-how is necessary, and a strong working knowledge of social media will be extremely helpful. Experience and/or interest in one or more of the following is essential: fitness, health, lifestyle, weightlifting, running, cycling, CrossFit, kettlebells, team sports, yoga and/or martial arts.
Responsibilities:
Pitching, writing and editing slideshows, feature articles and blog posts each week.
Generating great content ideas and being able to execute them quickly.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced editorial environment, editing and/or writing several slideshows, feature articles and/or blog posts per day.
Recruiting and managing freelance writers and experts on topics such as CrossFit, weightlifting, martial arts and more.
Assigning stories and negotiating rates; experience recruiting new writers is a plus.
Writing pieces with click and search-friendly headlines that perform well on social media and in our newsletters as well as on the LIVESTRONG.COM homepage.
Reporting on weekly stats and content performance using Google Analytics.
Helping drive and improve reader engagement, traffic and social traction on all content.
Choosing and sizing images for display in the articles and on the LIVESTRONG.COM homepage using Adobe PhotoShop.
Ensure overall content quality is maintained via regular quality audits.
Perform other editorial tasks and projects as necessary when required to support business objectives.
 
 
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, communications or related field
A strong desire to be part of the LIVESTRONG.COM brand and a passion for fitness
Experience working in an online editorial environment, particularly with regards to content management systems and social media
Exceptional writing, editing, and grammatical skills
Solid understanding of how to write headlines and present content in a way that compels clicks and reads from an online and mobile audience
Experience working with freelance writers, making assignments and providing feedback

Ability to simultaneously balance multiple projects with competing priorities while working in a deadline-driven environment 
Strong organizational and analytical skills and ability to work independently

Efficiency, accuracy, dependability and strong attention to detail

Ability to crop, edit, and resize images in Photoshop
Journalistic curiosity and energy to discover new topics; creative problem solving skills

Familiarity with AP style or other publishing style guides

Solid Microsoft Office skills; experience with Google Analytics is a plus
