Job Description The Editorial Assistant provides administrative support to the Editors-in-Chief and Editorial General Manager for the Martha Stewart magazines, performing such duties as scheduling appointments, drawing up contracts, filing expense reports and invoices, booking travel, answering phones, and processing mail. The assistant also calls in\/tests products for photo shoots, handles returns, coordinates product giveaways, and does additional reporting for the magazines as needed. Includes the opportunity to write sidebars and short items for the FOB and BOB sections for skilled candidates. Essential Job Functions 70% Assists EICs and Editorial General Manager with administrative duties, including but not limited to processing contracts\/payments, filing expense reports, booking travel arrangements, managing calendars, answering phones and opening mail. 15% Call in products for editorial testing & photo shoots; coordinate returns and product giveaways; attend press events. 15% Research, write, report, and generate ideas for magazines, such as short news items, sidebars, letters columns. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered. Education: Bachelor\u2019s degree in Journalism or related field or equivalent training and\/or experience. Experience: Editorial internship or assistant position at large consumer magazine or web site preferred. Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail. Knowledge and demonstrated expertise and enthusiasm in magazine publishing. Ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to interact responsibly and politely with readers, experts and senior management. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Strong computer skills.
