The Development Department at MSK is seeking a Technical Writer to join their team.
As the Technical Writer, you will: Create user training materials for all Development (Fundraising) applications and departmental procedures.
Play a critical role in supporting Development\u2019s recent conversion to a new CRM database.This project has required a complete overhaul of all existing documentation, as well as many of Development\u2019s current processes.
Learn highly detailed processes from various subject matter experts and then convert that information into simple, easy to use, and standardized instructions.
Develop training guides, process maps, eLearning materials (in the form of a knowledge base), and vendor work instructions.
Identify and explore shortfalls within our current systems and make recommendations for improvement to process and data management.
Engage in team projects and duties as needed.This may include tasks such as validation testing, data integrity projects, user support, etc. You are: Incredibly productive within a team environment, work within tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
Comfortable with the project management life-cycle.
A self-starter, competent at working independently with minimal supervision.
A highly motivated individual can grasp complex software\/technologies and learn quickly.
Highly organized and detail oriented. You need: Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Technical Writing, English, Journalism, Communications, Technical Communications, Computer Science, or related field with an emphasis on technical documentation, or equivalent years of relevant experience.
Proven technical writing and editing skills.(Please submit a sample of your work with the application.)
Demonstrated knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, procedures, and applications within the field of software technical writing.
Minimum of 3 years experience in a technical writing role.
Experience in graphic design or information design.
Advanced skills with MS Office or other publishing software tools.
Experience with fundraising or other CRM software is preferred. User training and eLearning development experience are also preferred.
Excellent proofreading skills.Superior command of the English language including rules and usage.
Strong research skills including interviewing, gathering, and analyzing data from multiple resources (Project Managers, end users, SMEs, developers, and other stakeholders) to develop training material content.
Superb interpersonal and verbal communication skills, particularly where technical information must be conveyed in a clear and convincing way. #LI-JN1
