A Proposal Writer at Renaissance has four main responsibilities:
Develop and maintain boilerplate response language for new and existing solutions regarding product features, benefits, functionality, technical specifications, etc.
Create compelling, persuasive, and accurate sales proposals, which include responses to Requests for Proposal (RFP)/Requests for Qualifications (RFQs)/Requests for Information (RFI), unsolicited proposals, and needs proposals.
Facilitate collaborative discussions with key stakeholders surrounding customer focus and implement key takeaways in proposals to ensure they are customized to the specific customer and their unique needs.
Edit proposals and other documents, as needed, to ensure the final draft presents a positive and professional image for Renaissance and addresses the customer’s requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and revise content to create custom sales proposals. Documents Renaissance submits to its customers—schools, districts, and state agencies— must have a persuasive sales approach. In addition, the content created should provide clear, concise, and specific information that presents products appropriately.
Write content for proposals that meet the requirements of the RFP and/or request and are customized to the specific customer/opportunity. All content must comply with department style guide, corporate branding, and company positioning.
Create, revise, and maintain (including coordination of subject-matter expert review) existing boilerplate text used by the Proposal Services team in custom sales proposals.
Seek insight for proposal responses independently through available company resources (Product Management, Sales, Professional Services, online, etc.) or through external information provided by customers or found in reference manuals, educational manuals, resources, sites, etc.
Identify and develop networks with product and implementation experts within the company to stay current on product and positioning changes, to ensure proposals relay a consistent message, and to get direction and approval on new and revised content.
Develop and maintain a knowledge base of current education initiatives and correlations to Renaissance products and services.
Maintain company confidentiality.
Possess the ability to work in a team environment, under pressure, and within tight deadlines. This position also requires the ability to balance multiple proposals at one time.
Occasional overtime is required.
Other duties as assigned.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be a strategic thinker, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to adapt quickly to unforeseen changes in project scope.
Must have strong attention to detail, be able to interpret contract-type documents, is sales driven and customer focused. Accustomed to working under stress and within tight deadlines. Must be resourceful, self-motivated, assertive, persistent, and timeline oriented.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in related field.
Five years of writing experience or equivalent education.
Previous sales and or proposal development preferred.
