The Infrastructure Administrator serves as a member of the infrastructure team reporting to the Department’s Director of Infrastructure. The purpose of the position is to evaluate, implement and deliver technical solutions that meet the Department’s Information Technology (IT) needs. The individual will work with the Director and other team members to design, implement, and maintain critical infrastructure. The individual will also be responsible for documenting as well as training the rest of the IT staff in certain operations and maintenance procedures. The individual will participate in the day-to-day operational duties for server, storage and virtualization infrastructure, serve in high level troubleshooting role for other department IT staff, and monitor mission critical systems. Additionally, the Infrastructure Administrator will occasionally need to respond to emergencies and/or perform certain operations outside of normal business hours. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training Three to five years of experience in enterprise IT setting Experience with enterprise backup solutions, one or more years of experience with maintenance and setup of automated backup solutions Experience with Enterprise level storage arrays including two or more years of experience with multi-terabyte RAID arrays In-depth understanding of Linux, Windows, Solaris, operating systems, with particular focus on enterprise level features Experience with VMware vSphere and ESXi installation and configuration, including automated installations via PXE and kickstart, host profiles, VUM, and enterprise-plus level features Understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts. Experience with Cisco network devices, or equivalent, and configuration of routers and/or switches. Experience with Software and Hardware Firewalls Unix shell, perl or equivalent scripting language Basic knowledge of how to apply technologies and systems to meet business needs Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs Demonstrated skills associated with adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs. Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent / related functions Demonstrated experience writing and editing complex scripts used to perform system maintenance and administration Understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Advanced knowledge of computer security best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing server-based software Experience with NAS and SAN Infrastructure and SAN switch zoning configuration. Experience with NetApp or equivalent storage devices Experience with authentication and authorization using LDAP, Kerberos, and/or Active Directory protocols Familiarity and understand of monitoring systems, such as Zabbix, and log collection systems such as syslog-ng Understanding of BCDR and HA configurations including vSphere HA and DRS, and technologies such as vMotion, VEEAM, etc. Experience with F5 or equivalent Load Balancers Experience with Cisco UCS for virtual environment installations Understanding of Imaging Infrastructure needs including an understanding of the DICOM protocol, image specific storage requirements and implementation, and general PACS workflow and components JOB REQUIREMENTS: The University of California San Francisco is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
