The Learning Services Program, a program for freshmen with learning disabilities, is looking for two Writing Mentors for the academic year. The Writing Mentors will provide individual assistance in one-on-one weekly meetings to students with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder. Responsibilities include reviewing academic writing, offering instruction, making recommendations for improving writing skills, and proofreading and editing. Training and supervision will be provided.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Hours are expected to be about 15 hours per week for each Writing Mentor, and the position will start in late August
Required Education and Experience
Experience or training in teaching or tutoring writing required, preferably to individuals with learning disabilities
The Writing Mentor position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, patience in working with others, and attention to detail
