Evoke Research and Consulting is currently seeking a technical writer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. The Technical Writer will support the full document development lifecycle, working directly with customers across a variety of healthcare disciplines.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Format, edit, standardize, proofread and correct information and ideas written by the client in accordance with set standards and arrange it in an understandable and logical order
Enhance the clarity of material by using concise word choices and plain language
Recreate, manipulate, crop, resize, lighten, label and layout electronic images and graphics such as drawings, schematics and photographs to increase visibility or highlight areas of importance.
Identify and acquire additional information or explanation needed to complete documentation
Insert tables, text boxes, schematics, diagrams, graphs, and figures into documents
Review publications and propose refinements to content or format
Track the development of technical material from the initial draft to final approval and publication
Maintain document version control, revision and approval records, to include change logs to ensure all document edits are incorporated
Recommend and implement document standards, quality controls and content requirements
Section 508 compliance
Advise and assist customers in the entire document development lifecycle, including development, post-development, and recurring updates
Work with project owners and subject matter experts to create products, including guidance documents, technical manuals, quick guides, and trainings
Able to facilitate meetings and groups of interdisciplinary staff (administrators, clinicians, nurses, doctors, etc.) to accomplish objectives and elicit technical information
Update and manage website content, following proper archiving processes and ensuring the most updated documents are available for review
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS degree or equivalent
Minimum of 4-6 years of experience
Able to thrive in an ambiguous environment with limited direction, and adjust to dynamic priorities
Comfortable managing projects individually within constrained and/or shifting deadlines
Comfortable working directly with remote customers on a day-to-day basis
Able to learn new skills / technologies and adapt to changing environments
Ability to maintain poise and professionalism under pressure.
Ability to understand the significance of the client's organizational culture and support organizational standards.
Knowledge and proficiency in using the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Access).
Clearable to a federal Public Trust/BI
Experience in the healthcare or health IT space
Experience in creating technical manuals and associated supplements and user guides for technology modules
Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Presenter
Prior experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs
Active or inactive VA Public Trust / BI clearance
