The Technical Writer is responsible for developing, drafting and implementing program documents. The position needs to be aware of requirements, specifications, policies, procedures and systems relative to the program and the Company.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. · Assist in the day to day processing activities of program documentation design and development.

· Research and write user and reference documentation, operations manuals, training course materials, technical descriptions and procedure documentation.

· Consult relevant information sources, technical documents, and project personnel to obtain background information.

· Format and review deliverable documentation in accordance with Company practices and/or Department of Defense (DoD) standards to ensure accuracy and quality of content, organization, language, format consistency, and conformance with established standards and contract requirements.

· Explain or describe processes in a concise, technical, and professional manner.

· Develop outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and project management.

· Support continuous improvements for and development of the activities related to Documentation Control for Company deliverables.

Education and/or Experience

· Bachelors degree in English, Technical Writing or similar field. Professional experience can be substituted for two (2) years of the educational requirements.

· 1 - 3 years experience as a Technical Writer.

· Experience in


discipline or relevant industry, performing technical documentation development desired.

· Background in and knowledge of DoD design documentation required to support simulation and training systems.

· Experience creating documents formatted per MIL-STD-40051.

· Experience creating documents from CDRLs and DIDs a plus.

· Knowledge and understanding of engineering source data, production design data, logistics source data and other related technical literature preferred.

· Knowledge of research methodology sufficient to develop authentic technical information.

· Ability to research the operation of training and training support systems, reviewing specifications and/or complex engineering drawings, and physically examining samples as required.

· Experience in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, .XML authoring tools, JIRA, SVN and software applications used in document development, control and configuration management, and document content reuse.

· MadCap Flare or similar software experience desired.

· Experience in the technical manual verification and validation process is desirable.
