The Editorial Assistant is responsible for departmental administrative needs including catalog, tip sheet and sales materials, taking notes at meetings, and providing administrative support to rest of the department including to the Editorial Director, the Associate Editorial Director, Executive Editor and Editor. In addition this position has the opportunity to learn from the ground up by working on reprints and repackages, providing editorial reads and comments on submissions, working with Editors on select projects in order to learn the editorial process, generating financial documents for Acquisitions, maintaining the Aladdin .Biz site on a seasonal basis, and generally immersing themselves in all aspects of the publishing process. We are looking for someone who can take on these responsibilities and ultimately grow into a full-fledged Editor.
The ideal candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel. They should have some knowledge of, and interest in, children's books and current trends in the market, as well as pop culture.
