The Office of Student Learning & Success encompasses the entire educational experience at the College. Employees in this division provide leadership and coordination for all areas related to instruction and student support. The Office ensures clear communication about the student learning experience, program offerings, and assessment as well as consistent implementation of policies and procedures pertinent to students and faculty.

Under the supervision of the Director of Research & Grants, the Grant Writer works with faculty and staff and is responsible for coordinating, developing, writing, and editing grant proposals as well as monitoring and fulfilling grant reporting requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Research and evaluate mission-related grant funding opportunities at the local, corporate, state and national levels.

• Inform and work with key faculty and staff around grant opportunities; provide regular training and coaching on grant seeking and preparation activities.

• Develop and sustain partnerships outside the College to support grant and other resource development initiatives.

• Work closely with campus staff and external partners to develop new grant projects.

• Maintain detailed institutional grants calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and final reports.

• Manage and track stewardship activities for existing grants, including interim and final reports; ensure budget accuracy, reporting, and compliance.

• Maintain up-to-date template data on the College, its programs, and the community for grant seekers to adapt to specific opportunities.

• Work cooperatively with other staff to secure necessary data for grant applications; maintaining and updating college statistics and providing data on national trends.

• Sustain ongoing communication with the campus about grant opportunities, grant proposals submitted, and grants awarded.

• Other duties as assigned of a similar nature/level.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution OR equivalent education/experience

• Two (2) years of experience with coordinating grant proposals and reports (both public and private) related to the higher education industry

• Experience developing strategic partnerships across public and private sectors

• Track record of success with grants awarded or contract funds received

KNOWLEDGE OF:

• Theories, principles and operational practices related to higher education grants and contracts

• Best practices in data collection methods, research, and knowledge of national trends in higher education

• Best practices in program or project budgeting and evaluation methods

• Applicable laws, rules, ordinances and regulations related to fundraising for 501(c)3 organizations

• Microsoft Office applications, and grant management applications and software

• Techniques for effective presentations and communication in a multicultural environment

SKILL IN:

• Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and competency

• Providing leadership to seek federal and state grants and contracts

• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at all organizational levels

• Time management and multi-tasking; developing and directing activities for grant/contracts

• Making effective presentations to individuals and/or groups; creating clear and concise materials

• Interpreting applicable laws, regulations and policies related to grant management

• Handling difficult and sensitive situations, using independent judgment within legal guidelines

• Effective oral and written communication at all levels inside or outside of the College
