ActioNet is looking for a Technical Writer / Information Developer for an exciting project in Washington DC supporting US Courts. As a Technical Writer working in the Release Management Department for our client the US Courts, you communicate the product to our users. Youâ€™re making our applications accessible to users of any technical level. Your mission is to learn the behavior of new features and create documentation geared toward both technical and non-technical audiences, designers, developers, and administrators that details how to use the product and the best practices for doing so. You must harness your technical prowess of online documentation tools such as Robohelp, your love for problem-solving, and superb organizational skills as you create dynamic content for incremental feature delivery.
You thrive on bringing simplicity to complex systems. Our clientâ€™s product features are powerful and robust, therefore require writers to collaborate with product managers and engineers to keep the big picture in focus. You write with a straightforward tone and are meticulous with details while ushering projects through the entire documentation lifecycle. You work to anticipate readers' intentions, design information, and present content through innovative web layouts.
â€¢ Provides comprehensive technical writing support to assist Program and Projects and Operation and maintain all documentation
â€¢ Gather, analyze, translate, and compose technical information into clear readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel
â€¢ Create and maintain various project artifacts and end user documentation including functional requirements, design documents, user guides, style guides, publishing standards, etc.
â€¢ Support the development, review, and editing of new or existing documentation or artifacts for final delivery, publication, or dissemination
â€¢ Technical writing support will be for a range of programmatic, technical and functional artifacts
â€¢ May be responsible for coordinating the display of graphics and the production of the document
â€¢ Strong verbal communications and superior written communication skills. This should include an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook (for company communication) and Lotus Notes (used by the Administrative Office).
â€¢ Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse staff, which includes AO Business owners, software developers, and Federal Probation and Pretrial District personnel.
â€¢ Detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize.
â€¢ Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
â€¢ Understanding of technical and technology terms and processes
â€¢ Excellent written communication skills
â€¢ Professional training in technical writing and written communication
â€¢ Experience with process documentation (Visio Swim Lanes, etc.)
â€¢ Ability to manage own work, multi-task, and prioritize. Highly organized, deadline oriented, quality focused
â€¢ Bachelorâ€™s Degree in English, Technical Writing, or related field
â€¢ Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related area and at least 5 years of experience in a related area
