As a Senior Content Developer
, you will work to improve the flow of existing documentation, optimizing the experience to provide Developers with the information they need to take full advantage client services. Your efforts will be directed at creating content that accomplishes three major goals:
Reduce the time required for Developers to find the information they need, guiding them through the learning process
Improve documentation flow, user experience, and visual presentation helping developers to digest information rapidly
Modernize THE approach to documentation, interpreting customer needs based on the selections they make and using that information to recommend relevant content
The ideal person must be able to work effectively with a cross-functional group of stakeholders to explore new approaches to improve Developer Documentation experience. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is able to take feedback and rapidly prototype proposed solutions. We are looking for someone with a keen eye for optimizing a user experience along with the ability to dig in and create actual content and flows. Successful candidates will be highly motivated, proactive content and user experience professionals who take an end-to-end view of the customer journey and are able to develop high-impact content experiences. We are looking for your ideas, your passion, and your help creating amazing content to help inspire and guide Developers!
Our content developers work as essential members of an integrated team, including engineers and program managers, to produce guidance content. Our guidance addresses a wide array of topics, so the ability to ramp up quickly on new technologies and practices is critical.
Review existing documentation and find ways to improve flows and UX
Optimize the ability of developers to rapidly consume documentation, looking to replace text with visual representations
Collaborate with stakeholders to define new approaches
Rapidly prototype and present solutions for review
5 years’ experience authoring technical content for a developer audience
3 years’ experience with optimization of user experience flows
3 years of graphical design experience, strong ability to present complex topics visually
Ability to author documentation using Markdown
Familiarity with one or more programming languages (e.g. Python, Go, JavaScript, C#, F#, Java, C, Ruby, etc.)
Experience structuring documentation that is easily digestible – from a user experience standpoint, modern approach
Experience in tech writing
Experience laying out web-based flows
Ability to define and create compelling user experiences through storyboards, mockups, wireframes, prototypes, and specifications
Provide expertise in standards, UX patterns, and cutting-edge documentation practices
Fast prototype to understand our target user better
Professional team player with strong interpersonal skills
Proven ability to gather information from others (engineering team, cross-functional partners) to produce content
BA / BS in engineering, design, computer science, communications, or equivalent technical experience
Sample work required
The ideal candidate will also have 2 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
Console / PC gaming
Expertise in Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite and online web / app design tools
UX design experience in industry
Knowledge of design patterns and distributed system principles
Participation in developer / gaming communities (e.g., Stack Overflow, GitHub, Discord, Reddit, local meetups, etc.)
