This is the second level of a two level job series responsible for the publishing of technical documents for a variety of Nuclear Business Units utilizing advanced document publishing/authoring software (Adobe Framemaker). Ensures the on-going maintenance and revision of document in addition to maintaining archival source files. Applies advanced knowledge of technical publication to perform initial conversion of technical documents from less sophisticated word processing software to document publishing software to provide electronic access to the subject documents. Develops full-text searchable subject documents with maintained hyperlinks. Ensures the ongoing maintenance of technical documents to including hyperlink references as required by procedural revision controls using the technical content provided by the document owners in compliance with nuclear regulations. Collects and incorporates review comments, prepares layout and specifications, proofreads and makes document revisions. Reviews document for consistency of format, organization, verbiage, layout, hyperlink resolution, and compliance with established work instructions and authoring guide. Works closely with document owner to review changes and obtain final document approval. Schedules document revisions with the owner groups and departments to assure proper and timely revision, approval, and distribution. Publishes approved documents for electronic access in the proper electronic repository.
The Nuclear (Fleet) Technical Publishing group is responsible for completing the below tasks including, but not limited to:
Maintaining/updating the Millstone FSAR for all three units; includes submission to the NRC in accordance with the schedule detailed in CM-AA-SAR-101.
Maintaining/updating Millstone Tech Spec, Tech Req Manual for all three units
Maintaining/updating the North Anna & Surry UFSAR & ISFSI SAR; includes submission to the NRC in accordance with the schedule detailed in CM-AA-SAR-101
Maintaining/updating North Anna and Surry Tech Spec, Tech Req Manual
Maintains/updates Nuclear Document Collections webpage which includes links to various Engineering sites, also referred to as “Portal”
Maintains/updates in-house Technical Publishing database
Maintains/updates in-house SAR Change Log database
Maintains/updates work instructions for Technical Publishing documents
Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
At least 3 years of previous work experience in technical writing, procedure development, and/or document publishing.
Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience
Demonstrates working knowledge of Adobe FrameMaker and other publishing software, including understanding the intricacies of specific PC setup (special software, plugins, etc.)
Demonstrates working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
Strong technical writing skills, full knowledge of grammatical principles, strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent proofreading skills and skill in developing and maintaining full-text searchable hyperlinks.
Analytical and abstract thinking skills
Ability to problem solve and to quickly process information*
Ability to interpret technical publishing work instructions with general supervision
Ability to coordinate multiple tasks
Associate Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education. Bachelor Degree is a plus.
