Currently, we are seeking a Technical Writer to work at our Austin, TX location.

Position Description:

Plan, develop, organize, write and edit operational procedures, release notes and manuals

Research, develop and document technical design specifications and review test scripts

Produce electronic documentation in addition to hard copy manuals

Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation

Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content

Manage updates and revisions to technical documentation

Write release notes to support internal and external customers

Work with the user experience team to define meaningful error messages

Edit documentation for completeness, style, and accuracy to ensure it reflects commitment to quality

Develop and fine-tune documentation processes

Understand customer requirements and incorporate them into the documentation

Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive, relevant work experience in lieu of every year of education.

Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Technical Communications, Engineering or Information Technology)

5 years' experience as a technical writer for software application development projects

5 years' experience with use case-based, procedural and release notes documentation

Ability to work in a team environment and interact with a diverse level of staff to exchange and/or extract information

Proficiency with MS Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, etc.)

2 years' experience with Content Management Systems

Preferred Qualifications:

3 years' working knowledge of SharePoint

1 year of working knowledge of WCAG 2.0 and Section 508

1 year of working knowledge of video and e-learning documentation

The job entails sitting as well as working at a computer for extended periods of time. Should be able to communicate by telephone, email or face to face. Travel may be required as per the job requirements.
