The Editor will oversee all aspects of manuscript acquisition and content development for a monthly health care journal with a circulation of approximately 60,000.
Works closely with a team of editors, writers, designers, illustrators, editorial board members, medical experts, and sales and production professionals in the development of the journal, its Web site(s), and any related editorial content as needed.
Responsibilities include : . Manage the initiation and development of the Company's publication materials within assigned medical specialties.
Develop a monthly schedule and adhere to strict deadlines to ensure timely publication. . Develop a backlog / queue of manuscripts and topic ideas for future issues.
Provide clear direction to writers and support staff. . Develop and maintain relationships within the medical industry.
Attend medical conferences and meet with writers, board members, and key opinion leaders as needed. . Define and communicate journal policy, style, and aims and scope, and identify specific publication needs.
Develop and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues at all levels with the Company. . Fulfill client custom writing requests;
work with contract writers. . Oversee and / or perform editing, fact-checking, proofreading, and quality control functions on the journal, Websites, and other assigned projects.
Maintain an editorial budget. . Uses the time reporting system; signing and reporting all exception time on a weekly basis.
Completes other administrative tasks such as T&E reporting or similar in a timely manner. . Perform responsibilities in professional manner, meeting company mission and goals.
