The Development Writer is responsible for assisting in crafting PHI’s fundraising materials, including grant proposals and reports, as well as foundation-facing correspondence. Excellent writing and editing are a must—and work in these areas constitutes the majority of the Development Writer’s responsibilities. The Development Writer works closely with the Development team. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES • Authoring concise, clear fundraising materials. • Editing fundraising materials and other communications. • Researching potential new funding sources. • Participating in meetings with funders as necessary. • Helping coordinate a range of fundraising meetings, visits, and events. QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree preferred. • Two or more years of experience in a communications or writing role at a mission-driven setting preferred. • Exceptional writing skills. • Precise editing skills. • Strong interpersonal skills. • Attention to detail. • Project management skills. • Ability to understand and use data in assessing program outcomes. • Knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in the use of databases and software (including Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). • Experience working in a nonprofit or similar environment a plus.
