Technical Writer I
Position Summary
The Technical Writing team manages technical product content. This position is part of a team that delivers high quality content in full and on time – whether it's a regulatory-required user manual or a logo description. We focus on high achievement, fast pace, and collaboration.
The Technical Writer I's role is to develop written information and documentation about the organization's processes, products, tool sets, templates, specifications, requirements, etc. Outputs include a range of informative, procedural, and technical documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel across all departments and for product certification. Additionally, the Technical Writer I contributes to the global technical writing team to assist with company-wide initiatives and defining standards for technical communications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, design, research, write, and edit a range of documents for both print and online media, including user, configuration, and installation manuals; policies; development and technical specifications; document templates; training materials; proposals; and more.
Edit written developer documentation as well as other technical content to create unified and consistent support documents.
Liaise with directors, managers, product owners, and end users to identify and define processes, procedures, requirements, and specifications to establish documentation needs for development and deployment including, but not limited to, hardware, software, and game-related systems and processes.
Ensure timely delivery of documentation in an Agile product lifecycle.
Collaborate with development staff to collect and interpret technical information.
Report regularly to management the progress of each project including all outstanding dependencies.
Perform peer editing and production reviews using an internal company standards guide and industry standards.
Ensure final documents are usable and of high quality.
Research, evaluate, and recommend new documentation methods in support of improvement efforts. Keep up with industry trends and share knowledge with the team to stay on the cutting edge.
Establish, communicate, and maintain documentation standards and provide training where required.
Keep documentation sets for assigned projects updated, accurate, and delivered on time, meeting multiple critical deadlines for, at a minimum, quarterly releases.

Experience and knowledge of Agile development processes is a plus.
Experience in DITA authoring is highly desirable.
Experience in authoring professional Help/Knowledgebase systems is a plus.
Education, Training and Experience
Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or equivalent experience.
A background working with technology development is highly desirable.
Minimum of 5 years' experience as a writer or documentation specialist.
Experience in managing a documentation project from beginning to completion, including the areas of information gathering, planning, and organizing methods and principles.
Hands-on experience working closely with technical subject matter experts.
3 years' experience with publication software, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Adobe Suites, screen capture utilities, defect tracking software, and file management systems.
Strong understanding of document structuring, content flow, and presentation techniques.
Must have a portfolio of work and/or writing samples (published desirable).

Office position:
Physically demanding time at desk.
Physically demanding time on PC keyboard and mouse.
Work Environment
This is a non-smoking office environment.
