The Proposal Writer is responsible for ensuring that Aetnas Medicaid Proposals are compliant to
RFP specifications and requirements; are written in a compelling, relevant, and concise manner; and
utilize the Shipley Method to convey the appropriate win themes and messages to address the
customers needs and articulate Aetnas value proposition, as well as provide proof and evidence to
substantiate the companys offering.
* TELEWORK / REMOTE - This position can be located anywhere in the US. If you are located near the Phoenix, AZ office then you will be required to work in the Phoenix, AZ office with some remote capability.
The key responsibilities of the position include:
Determines proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs; studying requests for proposal (RFPs); attending strategy meetings.
Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; entering and monitoring tracking data; coordinating requirements with contributors; and contributing proposal status information to review meetings.
Gathers proposal information by identifying sources of information; coordinating submissions and collections; and identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals.
Develops proposal by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, standards of performance, and evaluation;
Writes, revises, and edits drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials.
Prepares final proposal presentation by evaluating text and graphics.
Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases.
Obtains approvals by reviewing proposal with key stakeholders and subject matter experts.
Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate; and implementing process improvement changes.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and maintaining personal networks in the designated field of subject expertise.
Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Must have excellent skills and competencies in the areas of: oral and written communications,
team collaboration, technical documentation, problem solving, organization, process improvement,
and strategic planning.
Must be deadline driven and be able to work in a fast paced environment.
Must have health care experience, preferably in the Medicaid business segment
Preferred experience with the Shipley Method
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
